Policies

The Company of Biologists fully supports the concepts of Library Choice and Agent Neutrality which serve to honour the individual libraries service, invoicing and payment preferences.
This may mean:

• Using consortia as an intermediary between themselves and the publisher or agent
• Using an authorised subscription agent to submit orders and payments, or
• Purchasing directly from the publisher

We work with many subscription agents worldwide and do not exclude any agent from working with us in any part of the world, apart from Japan, where we have made exclusive arrangements.

We sign Service Level Agreements with a number of our major subscription agents and these set out our joint commitments to the quality and high levels of service that we aim to deliver to our customers.

Sales

• Subscriptions are accepted for a calendar year only
• Prepayment required with order
• Payments should be in either £ sterling, Euros or US Dollars
• Cheques should be made payable to "The Company of Biologists Ltd"
• If you wish to pay by bank transfer please contact sales{at}biologists.com for bank details
• Electronic access is subject to the completion of a Site Licence. For any queries regarding site licences please contact sales{at}biologists.com
• Non-UK EC customers will be charged VAT at the rate applicable in the customer's country. Tax is not chargeable to VAT registered customers. If you are a registered business please ensure that your registered VAT number is quoted on all orders and correspondence
• UK VAT rate of 17.5% applies to online subscriptions. VAT is calculated on a proportion of the total value of combined subscriptions
• For consolidated orders, the actual recipient (end-user) mailing address must also be provided or online access will not be possible for those customers

Tiered pricing

The Company of Biologists operates a tiered pricing system. For more information on tier descriptions, coding guidelines and tier allocations, please see the Tier Coding Grid.

Tier 5 subscriptions are negotiated directly with The Company of Biologists contact, sales{at}biologists.com.

The Company of Biologists retains the final say in tier allocation decisions.

Administration

• Cancellations will be accepted but the subscription fee is not refundable
• Claims to be made immediately after receipt of subsequent issue or 3 months after publication date
• Please notify us of any changes of address supplying both the old and the new address of the subscriber, as well as the subscriber number
